Juvenile Delinquency is a problem facing countries around the world. Many attempts have been made to adapt adolescents and juveniles to an appropriate environment that aids in proper behavioral development. The P.R.E.P.S. program is designed in an attempt to provide the best practices model within the middle school environment, where participants engage in one to one mentoring with older peers. These older peers are knowledgeable in the area identified in the juvenile which needs modification, and during the course of the program attempts to through peer support aid the juvenile in correcting their behavior. As the name of the program alludes to, these peer sessions are prepping these juveniles for the challenges they are to face in the near future, as they progress through high school and beyond. Focusing on relationships promoting resistance to involvement in drug related activities and gang membership, as well as confidence building exercises and self-sufficient life goals.
