Mayan culture is very unlike modern Western culture. The Mayan people took life day by day; doing what's necessary for survival, because they did not have the luxuries and technology most developed countries have today. It is because of these things that appreciation, understanding and respect for the earth has been lost. Through Mayan culture, and the Sacrificial Dance in particular, one can see how often people used to acknowledge their powerlessness in the world.
