This poster presentation will explore one theory of how violence operates as a general process. This theory unifies both micro-level and macro-level violence as a single process used as a problem solving tool. The scope of this project is to present a logical explanation of the steps that a person or group proceed through before implementing violence. This poster is the beginning of a further exploration of a growing social problem within the United States, as such it does not offer solutions to violent behavior, nor does it offer possible alternatives to violence. The focus of this research is to understand violence as a goal acquisition tool. It is intended as a stepping stone to further research. The tentative conclusion of this beginning step is that we can view violence as a tool used by individuals and organizations, rather than a moral or psychological aberration.
