Alzheimer's Disease: A cognitive disorder's process of identity theft.

Amy Wilson

Approximately 5.4 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's Disease. Alzheimer's Disease is a form of dementia that is progressive, degenerative, and the sixth leading cause of death in America. An individual with this disease will experience loss of or damage to neurons resulting in memory loss, behavioral changes, and the inability to effectively function (i.e. thinking, language, and movement may be inhibited). Currently there is no solution to prevent, slow down, or cure Alzheimer's Disease. This study's objective was to review the contemporary research relating to Alzheimer's Disease and the potential solutions to the Alzheimer's epidemic. Through a review of relevant and scholarly literature, progress in medical research on Alzheimer's Disease is examined.
