Irish Step Dance and Its Connection to the Resurfacing of Original Irish Language

Laura Perry

Irish step dancing is, and has been for a very long time, an important part of Irish culture. In recent years the Irish people have been trying to resurrect the language of their past. The resurgence of this cultural tradition can, in fact, be linked with the step dancing done their still. Both language and dancing connect the Irish people to their heritage, with one influencing the other. This is evident in scholarly research done by a variety of experts and the history of Ireland and its people, which are described and analyzed in this paper.
