Siskiyou Center Programs

Southern Oregon University holds a twenty-year track record of success in the growing field of older adult education. We offer popular high-quality learning experiences through several venues:

OLLI (Osher Lifelong Learning Institute) offers its members of retirement age opportunities to pursue current intellectual interests and to explore, with an academic approach, new areas of learning. Classes are held weekdays on Southern Oregon University's campus in Ashland.

Elderhostel offers in-depth and behind-the-scenes learning experiences for almost every interest and ability with more than 8,000 learning adventures in all 50 states and more than 90 countries abroad. Southern Oregon University has been a part of this network since 1980, and a leader in programming since 1983.

Senior Ventures is Southern Oregon University's own program, offering educational adventures combined with housing on the University's campus in Ashland.

Emeritus Faculty remains a vital part of University life even while freed from routine. Quarterly newsletters and programs offer social and intellectual opportunities.

Auditing credit classes is another great way to discover new horizons and to be involved in campus life. People age 65 and older, may attend classes normally offered for credit with instructor permission on a space-available basis at no charge (except for class materials). Incidental or Health Services fee privileges are not provided and the University does not maintain any records of enrollment. Those wishing to check out library books can purchase a community card from the Loan Services desk in the SOU Library. Obtain an authorization form in the Registration Center (Britt 230) at the beginning of each term.
