Midsummer Night's Dream Graphic

The Center for Shakespeare Studies, Southern Oregon University, presents its annual Spring Symposium, on Friday, April 11, 2008, in the SOU Art Building's Meese Auditorium. This year's topic is A Midsummer Night's Dream. From 12 noon to 1 p.m. director Mark Rucker will talk about his production of the play, on stage now at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

From 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. a panel of three leading Shakespeare scholars will bring a variety of critical perspectives to a discussion of A Midsummer Night's Dream. The panel includes Professors Coppélia Kahn (Brown University), Jeremy Lopez (University of Toronto), and Carol Thomas Neely (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign). Alan Armstrong, Director of the SOU Center for Shakespeare Studies, will act as moderator.

Emily L. Hexter was Assistant to the Director of the Center for Shakespeare Studies from 1992-2000. In that time she helped bring a number of programs to teachers, students and the community with an inimitable spirit and flair. This Spring Symposium is funded in part by family and friends who wish to honor her memory.

Both events are free of charge and open to the public. No reservations are required.
