Southern Oregon University

The mission statement of the QRC is five-fold:

  1. Personal and Academic Achievement.
The QRC encourages lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, allies, faculty, and staff to expand their personal, educational, and professional opportunities at the University. We provide educational access and resources for queer students and the entire campus.

  2. Student Welfare and Support.
The QRC provides information, referrals, and a safe space to all students, faculty, staff, and community members working on issues of sexual and gender identity and diversity. We also act as the main campus contact for safer-sex information and supplies.

  3. Student Advocacy.
The QRC establishes, maintains, and promotes a safe and supportive campus environment where lesbian, gay, bisexual, and trans students can value their own stages of development and appreciate the cultural, social, and intellectual diversity that the queer community has to offer.

  4. Campus Outreach and Education.
The QRC encourages and supports SOU departments, administrators, staff, faculty, and students in becoming more sensitive to knowledgeable about the needs and concerns of queer students in the campus community. We also create and maintain alliances with such organizations as the Multicultural Student Coalition, Women
