Josie Wilson, PhD
Professor of Psychology
Dr. Josie Wilson is a clinical psychologist with extensive experience as a counselor educator at Southern Oregon University. She has an M.A. in Counseling from Western Michigan University and earned her Ph.D. from Georgia State University. As a licensed practitioner in Oregon, New York, and Michigan, she worked with clients from 3 to 80 years of age.
Josie has had many roles in the Psychology Department and at SOU. She has taught Introductory Psychology, Lifespan Development, Personal and Social Adjustment, Child Psychopathology, Helping Skills, Senior Capstone, Group Counseling, Professional Ethics, and has provided supervision for the graduate counseling students. She served as Department Chair for several years and was the clinical Coordinator and the Program Coordinator for the Masters in Mental Health Counseling program. From 2004-2009, she was Dean of the School of Social Sciences and then Founding Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at SOU. She returned to the Psychology Department in fall 2009 and we have been lucky to have Josie again lead the MHC program.

Dr. Josie Wilson is a clinical psychologist with extensive experience as a counselor educator at Southern Oregon University and as a licensed practitioner here and in New York. Josie was a Fulbright Scholar in 1999-2000 and taught in Mexico at the University Of Guanajuato School Of Psychology. Collaborating with her Mexican colleagues, she helped developed a professional ethics course and published a comparative review of ethics codes from the Hispanic world. Her love of Mexico and the Mexican culture has deep roots, going back 44 years.
From 2004 - 2009, she was Dean of the School of Social Sciences and then Acting Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at SOU. She returns to the Psychology Department in fall 2009.
