Blackboard Course Request Form

Requesting a Blackboard course site 
The Blackboard course request form is accessed through MySOU. To request a course, log in to MySOU and open the Faculty & Staff tab. The Blackboard Course Request link is located under Web Applications in the Blackboard  section.

Note: New Bb course sites are created "empty," ready for you to add course materials. To copy an existing course from a prior term, follow the instructions detailed below to request your new course site(s) and then copy your previous course content into the new course(s) using these instructions.

Selecting your classes
The first screen that opens will provide a list of all the courses you are teaching for the current and future terms.

Indicate the courses for which you want to have Blackboard sites created. If you plan to enroll multiple sections in a single course site, select only the primary CRN at this point -- other CRNs may be added later.  Submit your list of courses by clicking on "Select Classes."

If you need to request a course site for another instructor, use the "Add class not listed" button.

Requesting a site if you are not the instructor 
Open the Blackboard Course Request Form. Click on "Add class not listed" to access courses which you are not teaching. Select the term and then enter the CRN. A list of courses will appear, allowing you to choose the CRN you want.
When you have selected all of the desired CRNs, click on "Select Classes" to finalize your site requests.

Each course that you have selected will appear in a separate form on the next screen. For each course site, you have the option of adding an additional instructor and/or adding additional CRNs to the course enrollment.

Adding an instructor
When you click the "Add Additional Instructor" button, a new input field will appear. As you type either a first or last name, a menu of matching names will pop up. Double click a name from the list to select it. Note: The names in the list are those entered in Banner. If you don't see the name you are looking for, you can enroll the individual after the course has been created. Contact the Help Desk if you need assistance.

Changing the additional instructor's role
Use the pop-up menu to select a role other than Instructor (TA, Course Builder, or Grader).

Adding additional CRNs
To add sections to a course site, click on "Add Additional CRNS." Type in the CRN of the first section you wish to add. Select it from the list that appears by double clicking it. Repeat this process to add as many CRNs to the course site as you wish. All students registered for these CRNs will be enrolled in your course site.

Submitting your request
When you have finalized your course requests, simply click on "Create my course(s)." You will see a screen confirming the submission of your course requests.

Note: Your courses won't actually be created on the spot. The data will be saved to a database and imported into Blackboard the next morning.
