Overview of OLLI Course Sign Up

Priority Registration: Although there are many courses to choose from each quarter, demand sometimes exceeds the available space. In the interest of fairness, OLLI at SOU holds a Priority Registration period during which members can request up to six courses, and the timing for submitting requests will not affect the chances of being admitted. Requests are processed via a computerized lottery all at once on the day after the deadline. For Summer 2013 the Priority Registration period is May 20 to May 27. See this guide to Getting the Courses You Want [PDF].

Open Registration: Once the Priority course selection process has ended, members are notified of the courses in which they have been enrolled, and then can add an unlimited number of other courses on a “first-come, first-served” basis. For Summer 2013, Open Registration starts June 1.

TIP: Take travel time into consideration when selecting courses in different campus locations.

Course Registration Process

Register Online: Paid members can add desired course(s) to the online shopping cart within the Course Catalog section of the OLLI online registration system. See Course Sign Up for full instructions. The OLLI office will provide assistance, if needed.

Dropping Courses: It is very important to notify the OLLI office as soon as you determine that you will not be attending a course you’ve selected, either during the Priority Registration period or thereafter. This will provide space for another member and let the instructor know the quantity of course materials needed. Drop notices via email to olli@sou.edu are the preferred method of informing the office, but you may also notify the office by mail or phone.
