Some OLLI classes qualify as SOU One Credit Courses. Click here for a list of OLLI courses that are approved for the One Credit Program for Spring 2013. Members who are 65+ years of age, have resided in Oregon for at least one year, and who co-enroll in one or more of these courses both through OLLI and through SOU may obtain an SOU student ID. There is no fee for eligible seniors to enroll in these courses. Regular tuition applies for those under 65 who want to enroll and receive SOU credit.
All OLLI instructors teaching a class at least ten hours in length were invited to submit a syllabus and c.v. for review by the relevant academic department to determine whether content and instruction are appropriate for a college-level course.
Those who participate in the One Credit Program at OLLI become SOU students for the term, with certain associated benefits such as checking out materials from the campus library. SOU benefits by claiming these students as part of the university’s overall headcount for funding purposes. By way of thanking us, rental costs for OLLI at the Medford campus are waived, providing OLLI with significant savings.
To register as a senior auditor in a credit-approved OLLI course, click here for the OLLI at SOU Senior Audit Form [PDF]. Fill out the form and return it to Pam Roessler in the OLLI office by April 2, 2013.
OLLI members auditing a credit course may obtain a student ID by visiting the SOU Enrollment Services Center (ESC) in Britt Hall after presenting photo identification. A current photo will be taken and used to create the card. ESC Staff will replace a lost card at no charge (the first time only.) Cards do not expire. They should be stored in a safe place. The ID card becomes valid each term in which a credit course is audited.
Note: eligible seniors may audit any course at SOU for free, with instructor permission. (Course fees, which are different from tuition, may apply.) Click here [PDF] for an audit form for non-OLLI courses or pick one up in the OLLI office at 655 Frances Lane in Ashland. RCC offers a similar program for senior auditors.
