Online Suggestion Box
OLLI’s “Online Suggestions Box” is an opportunity for you to express a suggestion or an idea that may improve the OLLI at SOU experience. Please submit a separate form for each item.
Upon receipt by the OLLI Program Manager, one copy will be kept on file and another copy will be directed to the appropriate committee or individual. You are free to remain anonymous, but we will need your name and contact information if we need clarification or if you desire a response. You may also direct suggestions to the OLLI office in person or by mail.
Thank you for your suggestion or idea.
Alternate Transportation - Buses, Bikes, and Carpooling
Bus Service through Rogue Valley Transportation District (RVTD)
Service runs three times each hour (weekdays only). Fares: $2 between cities, $1 everywhere for those 62 and over. Discounted passes also available. www.rvtd.org
Shuttle Service through Cascade Shuttle
OLLI at SOU Ride-Share Program in Ashland: this is a subsidized ride-share pilot program for OLLI members, utilitzing Cascade Shuttle service in Ashland. OLLI members contact Cascade directly, and pay $4 per one-way fare (check or cash only). The shuttle van accommodates up to seven riders. Arrangements must be made by 5 p.m. the day before.
Bike racks are available in the following locations:
- Ashland Campus – next to Classroom C and the Members’ Lounge
- Medford Campus - On Ninth Street behind the Higher Education Center; behind RCC's G Building (8th and Central) in the parking lot; and city racks in the alley behind G Building and on the sidewalk next to G on 8th Street.
Carpooling makes good sense, especially for friends who take the same classes, particularly the large classes in Classrooms A, D, and E. There is a bulletin board in the Campbell Center Members’ Lounge where people can post “ride offered” or “ride needed” notices.
$130 carpooler parking permits that allow parking in SOU lots and are valid each academic year are sold in the SOU Enrollment Services Center. You have to be an enrolled student to be eligible to purchase one. For OLLI members, that means you have to be signed up for an SOU One Credit class and have a student ID.
Directions to the RCC-HEC Higher Education Center (HEC)
From the North on I-5, take Medford exit 30, Crater Lake Highway/OR-62. Turn right at light on Crater Lake Highway/OR-62. Turn left on Court Street/OR-99S. Bear left to continue on OR-99S (becomes Central Street). Turn left on East Eighth or Ninth to South Bartlett or continue to parking (see below).
From the South on I-5, take Medford exit 27, Barnett Road. At light at the top of the ramp, turn left on Barnett Road. Turn right on Riverside Avenue. Turn left on East 9th Street and immediate right on South Bartlett Street, or continue to parking (see below).
Near the Higher Education Center, there are a number of parking choices that are convenient and free or affordable. For detailed parking information geared specifically to OLLI students who are visiting the HEC, including a map, helpful tips on how to use the new Pay-by-Plate machines, and how to pay by cell phone, click here [PDF].
The City of Medford also provides a summary of more general downtown parking information at their web page.
For more details and a map of all downtown Medford parking options, click here [PDF]. You may also contact Diamond Parking at 541-774-2082 or email@example.com. They are located at 314 E. 6th Street, Suite 101.
Some important tips:
- Note that parking times are regulated and strictly enforced by the Medford parking patrol. The patrol records license plate numbers when checking to see how long you have been parked (rather than chalk mark on your car tires).
- Be sure to allow enough time to find parking at a location that is appropriate for the length of your class.
- You may convert one citation per year per vehicle into a monthly parking pass if you pay the citation within ten days of receipt.
- Persons with valid DMV handicap placards can park in any time-limited parking space that is marked one-hour free parking or more for as long as desired. When parking in pay machine facilities, those with handicap placards may park in a handicap space for free. However, in these lots, parking in spaces other than the handicap space requires payment.

Coming from the North on I-5, take Ashland exit 14 and turn right on Ashland Street. Turn left at light onto Walker Avenue. Turn right on Siskiyou Blvd., and then left on Frances Lane (at Starbucks). Go uphill holding to the left; OLLI classes are located in the Campbell Center at 655 Frances Lane on the right across from Grace Lutheran Church. If coming from the South on I-5, the same instructions apply, only turn left on Ashland Street. Or, Google the address and zip code 97520.
There is limited free parking in the immediate vicinity of OLLI. Members using street parking can expect a one to three block walk. Across the street from OLLI at the Grace Lutheran Church's upper parking lot (at the corner of Oregon and Frances) there are 28 parking spaces. Three of these spaces are reserved for handicapped members and five spaces behind the apartment complex for instructors on the day they are teaching.
Consult the map below for parking lot locations convenient to OLLI-SOU. For a map of the entire SOU campus, see: sou.edu/map/CampusMap.pdf.
