Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI)
Welcome
Connect With Other Curious Minds. Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Southern Oregon University offers intellectually stimulating classes and social functions for adults of any age. OLLI members can make unlimited selections from up to 90 courses each quarter, space permitting, three quarters a year, September through June, for the low annual membership fee of $100. OLLI students may attend classes on both the Ashland and Medford SOU campuses.
Volunteer instructors, most often OLLI members, share their expertise and passions in non-credit courses spanning such diverse topics as art, dance, film, fitness, games, health, history, literature, music, natural history, politics, science, technology, theatre, travel and writing. Since there are no tests, papers or grades, and the classroom environment is casual and relaxed, classes are fun for both students and instructors.
Since its start in 1993, OLLI has grown to almost 1,250 members. OLLI is financially supported by the Bernard Osher Foundation, other donors, and member fees. As part of a national network of over 120 campus-based OLLI chapters, the organization can draw on many resources and ideas in delivering exceptional adult learning.
OLLI is more than attending classes and social functions. Members are afforded the opportunity to volunteer in our member-run organization. They are encouraged to: serve on committees, teach courses, assist in orienting newcomers, contribute to the quarterly OLLI newsletter (The LINK - PDF format), host classes, and participate in OLLI governance by becoming a member of the Council.
Eager to learn, just for the fun of it? Select from the topics on the menu to the left, and when in doubt, refer particularly to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ). If all else fails, call the OLLI office between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, at (541) 552-6048.
OLLI is affiliated with Southern Oregon University's Division of Continuing Education.
