Jody received a Bachelor of Music in Horn Performance from The Ohio State University and a Master of Music in horn from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM). While in Cincinnati, she performed with the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, the Dayton Philharmonic and the Richmond Symphony Orchestra, and performed in New York City for the James Tocco Eminent Artists chamber music series.
In 1994, Jody was a founding member of the Skyline Brass, a brass quintet formed at CCM. The group received a grant from Chamber Music America and the National Endowment for the Arts to participate in a four year residency in rural Oregon and Iowa. During the residency, the quintet performed hundreds of concerts, presented three concert tours, and recorded two CDs, Caged and Flying Home. The group also commissioned and premiered brass quintet works, and organized a chamber music workshop for brass players with ages ranging from 15 to 70.
In 1998, Jody moved to Ashland and is principal horn in the Rogue Valley Symphony Orchestra, third horn for the North State Symphony Orchestra in Chico, CA and fourth horn with the Cascade Festival Orchestra in Bend. She has played principal horn with the Rogue Valley Opera and the Rogue Valley Music Theater, and as co-principal in the Redding Symphony Orchestra. Jody has played with the Britt Festival Orchestra, the Jefferson Baroque Orchestra (on natural horn), and has subbed for the Eugene Symphony Orchestra and the SOU Faculty Brass Quintet. She is also a founding member of Trillium Ensemble. Jody is a horn instructor at SOU, and serves as Executive Director for Chamber Music Concerts.
