THE SISKIYOU SAXOPHONE WORKSHOP WILL NOT BE OFFERED IN 2011
The Siskiyou Saxophone Workshop draws middle school, high school, college students and adults from across America and as far away as China. The workshop offers a “music school” experience, with classes in theory, history, and unique master classes such as yoga for musicians, classical saxophone performance, and jazz improvisation. Performance opportunities include chamber music in a saxophone quartet, a saxophone orchestra featuring bass through sopranino saxophones, solo master classes and an opportunity for a private lesson. The workshop accepts complete, pre-existing saxophone quartets or individual students on all saxophones. Students will play soprano, alto, tenor or baritone, or may be selected to play exotic saxophones like the bass or sopranino. The week culminates with a Thursday evening Saxophone Orchestra concert and a Friday chamber ensemble recital in the SOU Music Recital Hall. Midweek the workshop takes a break with an optional afternoon rafting trip on the famed Rogue River or to see a play at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.
