Department of Music
Jefferson State Choral Coalition
The Jefferson State Choral Coalition consists of between 40 and 60 singers each term. They perform a mixed brew of standards, blues, 40s swing, 50s rock, a cappella ballads, and gospel style music.
Under the direction of Kirby Shaw, this ensemble performs a concert at the end of each term in the Recital Hall. If you have sung in a jazz choir before and want to continue, this ensemble is for you. If you have always wanted to sing this style of music but have no experience, or "used to sing" (any kind of music) in the oh-so-distant past and would like to get back into it, this ensemble might be for you, too! Call Kirby, come to our concerts, or stop in at a rehearsal and check it out.
Auditions are held before the first rehearsal every term or by arrangement with Kirby Shaw. Students and community members (non-SOU students) may register for this ensemble. Rehearsals are on Wednesday nights from 7 - 9:30 in the choir room of the Music Building. For more information on the choir, contact Kirby Shaw.
