Bruce Dresser, Trumpet

Bruce Dresser is principal trumpet of the Rogue Valley Symphony and a member of the Jefferson Baroque Orchestra (performing on Baroque natural trumpet). With the Southern Oregon University Brass Quintet, he and the other members of the group have worked actively to sustain its educational mission, performing all over the Rogue Valley and in other areas of southern Oregon in numerous recitals, school concerts, and master classes. He has performed with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and the Britt Festival Orchestra, plays in the local swing band, Leslie Kendall and the Jump Daddies, and is an active freelance player.

Bruce teaches trumpet privately, coaches with the Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon, and has adjudicated at band and solo and ensemble festivals locally and in the Bay Area. He works with the Ashland Middle School bands and directs beginning and intermediate bands at Willow Wind Community Learning Center and The Siskiyou School (Waldorf) in Ashland. In the San Francisco Bay Area he was principal trumpet of the Peninsula Symphony and Redwood Symphony, and played with the West Bay Opera orchestra. Bruce holds a Bachelor of Music degree from San Francisco State University, and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching degree at SOU.
