ABOUT ASHLAND, OREGON

Ashland is deliciously nestled in the foothills of the Siskiyou Mountains at 2,000 feet and surrounded by rivers, lakes, and national forests. It is a city of contrasts. The population is only 16,840 yet hosts more than 385,000 visitors yearly who attend a variety of cultural events, and enjoy the spectacular natural attractions. The Tony award-winning Oregon Shakespeare Festival is America's largest regional repertory theatre. The city also boasts a movie company, numerous theatre groups, the State Ballet of Oregon, the Rogue Valley Symphony Orchestra, several art galleries, and a flourishing colony of writers, artists, and crafts people.

Ashland is a town for walking. Within a fifteen minute walk from the campus, one may choose from more than fifty resturants, delis, and bakeries. There are numerous specialty shops, bookstores, banks, theaters, ice cream parlors and more. Lithia Park, with its duck ponds, paths, and gently flowing creek, provides an ideal 100 acre setting for picnics and strolls. Ashland's alpine setting and ideal living environment delight residents and students alike.
