Kedrick Shadley

My name is Kedrick Shadley and I am an undergraduate currently majoring in health and physical education with an emphasis in physical therapy and a double minor in biology and psychology. I anticipate graduating cum laude in June 2013. My academic interests are endocrinology, exercise physiology, and nutrition. I hope to receive an M.D. in Endocrinology and possibly a Ph.D. in Physiology.

I intend on becoming a health advocate and improving the general population's health through research, publication, and service. Opening a health center for those who would not normally be able to afford membership has been a lifelong dream of mine. I want to offer a low cost medical clinic, affordable healthy food options, health and nutrition education, and youth services in addition to the regular operations of a health center such as gyms, activity classes, and sports. This health center would be based on empirical scientific findings and would incorporate a research element by monitoring data volunteered by its members. I eagerly anticipate the time when I can offer these services to my community and my knowledge to society. I also look forward to publishing well informed, yet easy to understand, health literature in the hopes of changing some current misconceptions being presented within popular culture.

Dr. Michael Parker, Professor of Biology
