McNair Scholar Carl Green
Carl Green is originally from Kodiak, Alaska. He is a double degree student, pursuing B.S. degrees in Human Communication and Psychology. Included in his academic portfolio are two minors Business Administration and Public Relations and two certificates Human Resources and Nonprofit Management. His future academic goal is to receive a doctoral degree focusing in the field of Organization Theory and Behavior.
Carl enjoys being active in the community. His most notable roles are being a member of the Oregon Army National Guard and as a Board member for a local nonprofit organization.
Mr. Green firmly believes the nonprofit sector is a fast and growing part of the economy that will need positive organizational structure and direction. In addition, he feels it is necessary to understand that there is a fundamental role of education to foster positive change for individuals, institutions and societies. Through the use of research and application, he will be able to provide consultation to state-wide and international not-for-profit organizations. In the latter part of his life, he would eventually like to become a professor specializing in nonprofit leadership and diversity management.
Carl’s field of interests include applied organizational communication; organization theory and behavior; public and nonprofit management; human resource management; leadership; organizational decision making; organizational theory and behavior; inter-organizational relations; managing organizational conflict climate; mediation and conflict resolution; organizational entry and assimilation processes; team development and strategic and action planning; group diversity; group decision making; group facilitation and organization productivity.
Although he has worked extremely hard to achieve his goals and accomplishments thus far, he asserts, “There have been many instrumental people in his life and without the support of select individuals, he would not be where he is today.” He would like to personally thank his family, the Refiors, the Valladolids, the Chernoffs, friends, Deborah Winters, Diana Watson-Paul, Professors in the Communication, Psychology and Business department, and anyone else who has truly believed in him throughout the way.
