Zoila Castaneda is a senior at Southern Oregon University and a dual major in Criminology and Psychology. Zoila strives to be her best and to perform her work to the best of her ability. If time could be stopped, she would learn everything there is to learn about every possible topic. Zoila loves being in school and knows that her love for education will carry her through for the rest of her life and facilitate the process of earning a Ph.D. in Public Policy.Zoila is interested in domestic affairs, such as education, economic policy and criminal justice and believes in promoting long-term proactive change instead of short-term reactive change. She plans to serve her community and nation by conducting research, designing curriculum and teaching, as well as making cost-effective recommendations for programs that serve children and families.
Born in Zacatecas, Mexico, Zoila moved to the United States when she was nine years old. She has lived in the United States since then, with the exception of her freshman year of high school when Zoila went to live in Mexico with her grandparents because she felt she was forgetting her culture, her roots, and her language.
