McNair Scholars

My name is James S. Brown I am a native of Oregon, born and raised in Portland. My interest is in Psychology, specifically Industrial/Organizational Psychology. Human Resources Management and eventually Organizational Consulting is where I intend to apply my acquired knowledge through helping and educating others.

In addition to researching the way organizations are staffed, I would also like to research organizational behaviors, and communications.

The responsibilities of educational success are large and the rewards in my opinion are infinite. This is why I made the choice to pursue a doctoral degree. Choosing to undertake graduate studies at the doctoral level is an achievement that until recently I had not thought was a possibility so, I will respect the opportunity. In my opinion, pursuing a Ph.D is my way to show my appreciation and passion for the field of Psychology. It also constitutes a contribution to and representation of my family and community. In addition, I would like to utilize my doctoral degree to impact my community, mentor the youth, and to contribute educational and research knowledge to the community of psychology.
