McNair Scholars
Asia Thogmartin
Being raised in South Africa, I was exposed to the consequences faced by those living in conflicted and marginalized societies. This exposure to complexities surrounding human nature developed into a deep curiosity for the coping tactics of underrepresented communities, specifically adolescents. My academic goal is to pursue a doctoral degree in order to research and design prevention, rehabilitation and intervention programs specifically for at-risk adolescents.
I am anticipating graduation in July 2013 cum laude with a baccalaureate degree in Psychology with a double minor in Conflict Management and Art. I am currently working on cyber bullying research project, which focuses on my interest in marginalized adolescent groups. I believe furthering my education will allow me to help those in need to the fullest extent.
