Support for Applied Mathematics Students
Graduate Assistantships (GA's) Available
We are pleased to announce that up to 3 GA's will be available for qualified applicants. A typical GA appointment entails assisting instruction in one section of a lower division mathematics course per term, and would yield an 80% tuition remission along with a weekly stipend of about $100 during academic terms. Students accepting GA appointments must be full-time, maintain solid academic progress in the degree, and perform satisfactorily in their assignment. All students who apply to the program will be considered for GA positions.
The Mathematics Department has a scholarship pool from which awards can be made. Eligibility is based on need as established by a completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and merit as established by program application (for new students) and continued successful performance (for continuing students).
Tutoring or Grading Jobs
The Mathematics Department regularly hires undergraduate and graduate students to tutor in our Tutoring Center and to grade papers for undergraduate mathematics classes. PSM students get very high priority for these positions.
Other Scholarships and Fellowships
We encourage our students to apply for external financial support. Here are some suggestions: Scholarships and Fellowships.
