(Ashland, OR) – Southern Oregon University’s School of Social Sciences Spring Term Lecture Series continues with James Phillips’ lecture, “Cultural Rights… and Wrongs: Defending and Limiting the Right to be Different.” This lecture will address how cultural identity is established, challenged, and defended in a globalized world.

James Phillips teaches anthropology at Southern Oregon University. He has worked for international development agencies, and done extensive research in Latin America. He has studied and written about human rights, refugees and displaced populations, conflicts, and social change movements for thirty years.
