Southern Oregon University to hold first-annual Student Filmmaker Showcase and Film Festival

(Ashland, Ore.) – Monday, April 9th, the Southern Oregon University Media Arts Department will be putting on its First-Annual SOU Student Filmmaker Showcase and Film Festival.  Students, faculty, and community members are all invited to attend this unique event. From April 8th - 13th, films will be shown in the Thorndike Gallery of the SOU Art Building, allowing you to stop by anytime during the week.

 

On the night of April 11th, the public is invited to the highlight event, the SOU Film Festival. Here, student talent will be showcased on the big screen. See a special screening of some very accomplished pieces including those from Doug Meils, Clint Bowers, David Ives, as well as many others.

 

Doors open Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m. and a quick meet and greet (with free food) will be held until 6:30 p.m. Browse the many films displayed throughout the gallery and meet the student filmmakers, teachers and staff. Following, everyone is invited into the Meese Auditorium for a special screening of "Prisoner of Mind" and "The End of Terror." The screening will last about 30 minutes. The Thorndike Gallery will remain open until 8:30 for attendees to browse the films or view more selections in the theater that will be played throughout the night.

Sunday - Friday: View student films all week in the Thorndike Gallery

Wednesday: Film Festival in the Messe Auditorium with a meet and greet and snacks.
