Academic Interests and Background

Contemporary French and Francophone literature, the French novel, French film, Contemporary French culture, Globalization.

Dr. Morris has been at SOU since 1982, and served as Chair of the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures from 1997 to 2005. He served for two years as Resident Director of the OUS study abroad programs in Poitiers and Lyon, France, and has remained an active supporter of the exchange programs. In addition to his teaching and research interests, for the past seven years, he has been project director for the Southern Oregon Foreign Language Articulation project, a regional collaborative between secondary and postsecondary language teachers, which has received nearly $500,000 in federal grant support. He is also a certified ACTFL OPI tester in French.
