ANALOG TELEPHONE USER GUIDE
ABBREVIATED DIALING (SPEED DIALING)
To program your most frequently dialed telephone numbers. Speed dialing requires you to create a list. To program the list:
- Listen for dial tone *DIAL #80 *Hear the dial tone *DIAL “1” *Hear dial tone.
- DIAL an Abbreviated Dial Code Number (01-99), *Hear Dial Tone.
- DIAL the number to be called, including appropriate access codes such as “9.” E.g. #80, 1-01-9-535-89XX; or, for an extension: #80, 1-01-2-65XX.
- PRESS “#” *Hear dial tone *Hang Up/OR Program the next number by starting at “2” above.
- To Use List: Listen for dial tone:dial *0, 01, or *1, 02
NOTE: An interesting feature of creating lists, is your first list translates to your 0 list in the system. Your second list is numbered 1 in the system. Keep this in mind when you access and use your lists.
AUTOMATIC CALL BACK
If you dialed an on campus (or OUS) number and reached a busy signal:
- While listening to the busy signal *DEPRESS [FLASH/RECALL] *Hear dial tone *DIAL *5 *Hear confirmation tone *Hang Up When you are called back you will hear three short rings *Lift handset and answer
CALL PICK-UP
To answer a phone in your pick-up group:
- Listen for Dial Tone *DIAL *7 *Begin talking immediately.
CALL CONFERENCE
You may conference up to three parties on your phone. (You and two others.)
- Listen for the Dial Tone *Dial the party you wish to conference and announce the call.
- Press [FLASH/RECALL] *Hear Recall Dial Tone *Dial third party *Press [FLASH/RECALL] *Introduce parties and begin conference.
CALL FORWARD
To forward your telephone to another extension:
- Listen for dial tone *DIAL *2 + Extension *Listen for confirmation tone *Hang up
To cancel:
- Listen for dial tone *DIAL #22 *Hear confirmation tone *Hang Up.
CALL HOLD
To place a call on hold:
- *Press [FLASH/RECALL] *Hear Recall Dial Tone *Dial *4 *Hear dial tone *Lay receiver down *DO NOT hang up.
- To return to call: HANG UP *Your phone will ring with three short rings *Answer phone and resume talking
LAST NUMBER REDIAL
To have the system automatically redial the last number you called:
- *Listen for dial tone *Dial #73 *Wait for answer.
SEND ALL CALLS TO COVER
To send all calls directly to voice mail:
- *Listen for dial tone *DIAL *8 *Hang up immediately.
To cancel call coverage:
- *Listen for dial tone *DIAL #88 *Hang Up.
TRANSFER A CALL
- *Press and release [FLASH/RECALL] *Listen for dial tone *Dial the third party *Announce the party now *Press [FLASH/RECALL] *Introduce the parties *Hang up.
- *If line is busy or not answered *Press [FLASH/ RECALL] twice to return to call.
Your Long Distance Authorization Code
Is a unique seven-digit number assigned specifically to you that facilitates dialing long distance calls from SOU campus extensions.
Any call using this uthorization Code will be billed to you. Do not share your number. Please keep it in a safe place and memorize it if possible. The Authorization Code is to be used for business calls only.
If you change departments, you will need a new code.
Distinctive Ringing
Distinctive Ringing identifies all calls received on the SOU campus. One ring identifies an on campus call. Two rings denote an off-campus call. Three rings indicate a priority call.
Extension Numbers
All extensions on the SOU campus and within OUS have five digits, e.g. 2-xxxx.
For EMERGENCY Assistance DIAL (four digits) 911#
Campus Security: 2-6911 (Emergency)
