Call Handling Features
Conference
The conference feature allows you to conference up to six parties (including yourself) on a call. To add another party to a call (for a total of six parties):
- Press CONF and listen for dial tone.
- Dial the number of the new party and wait for an answer.
- When you want to add the new person, press CONF again.
- Repeat steps 1 through 3 for additional conference connections.
To add a call you have put on hold to another call you are connected to:
- Press CONF and listen for dial tone.
- Press the call appearance button of the call on hold. (Red light should be flashing).
- Press CONF again.
To drop the last person added to the conference call:
- Press the MENU button and then press the softkey DROP.
Transfer
The transfer feature allows you to transfer a call from your telephone to another extension or outside number.
Announced transfer - To send the present call to another extension:
- While on a call, press TRNSFR.
- Dial the umber to which the call is being transferred. (hear ringing tone or watch display)
- Remain on the line and announce the call. (If the line is busy or there isn't an answer, you can return to the held call by pressing its call appearance button.)
- Press TRNSFR again to complete the transfer.
- Hang up.
Unannounced transfer.
- While on a call, press TRNSFR.
- Dial the number to which the call is to be transferred. (hear ringing tone or watch display)
- Press TRNSFR again and hang up.
Hold
Press HOLD to put a call on hold until you can return to it or to answer another call.
Redial
The Redial (or Last Number Dialed) feature automatically redials the last extension or outside number you dialed. (up to 24 digits)
Speakerphone
The two-way speakerphone allows you to place and answer calls without lifting the handset.
- You may place or answer a call without lifting the handset by pressing SPKR.
- To change from the speakerphone to the handset, pickk up the handset and talk.
- To end a call press SPKR again.
Mute
During a call, in order to listen only and not have the calling party hear your, press the MUTE button. The red light above the MUTE button will stay lit as long as this feature is activated.
Programming
To have a new number programmed on your phone, contact your system administrator.
Display Features
Directory
The directory feature allows you to search for the extension of another user in your location by keying in the user's name at the dial pad.
To search the directory for a name:
- Press the Menu button and then press the softkey below Dir.
- Key in the selected name with dial pad keys: last name, comma (use *), first name or initial.
- Press the Next button for each successive directory name you wish to see.
- To search for a new name, press the softkey below Dir and go through the above sequence again.
- When you are ready to exit the directory, press the Exit button.
To place a call to the name shown on the directory:
- Pick up the handset.
- While the name is showing, press the Exit button and then dial the number using the dial pad.
Drop
To disconnect from a call without reseating the handset, press the Menu button and then press the softkey below Drop.
Inspect
This feature shows you call-related information for an incoming call when you are already active on a call, or, with this feature, you can see who is on hold.
To use the inspect feature:
- Press the Menu button and then press the softkey below Inspt.
- Press the call appearance button in question. Information is shown on the display screen; you remain connected to the present call.
- To return to the held call, press the Exit button and then the call appearance button of the held call.
Priority
This feature is used to connect the caller to an extension that is set on Send-Extension and shows Cover on the display when being called. If the called party is not on a connected call, they will hear three short bursts (priority ring). This feature should only be used with discretion and/or in an emergency situation.
Auto-Callback
Allows the internal user who places a call to a busy extension to be automatically called back when the called extension becomes available.
After placing a call to a busy telephone, press Menu then the softkey AutCB and hang up. This function stays active for 30 minutes after which it is cancelled if the called party does not become available or if the calling party does not anwer the callback call within two to nine rings.
Auto-Callback is an inter-campus and not an inter-institution feature.
Call Forward
The call forwarding feature temporarily forwards all your calls to another extension on the SOU Campus. To temporarily redirect all calls to an extension of your choice:
- Press the Menu button and then press the softkey below CFwd.
- Dial the extension where the call will be sent and hang up. You will hear a confirmation tone of three short beeps when this is properly activated.
To cancel this feature:
- Press the Menu button and then press the softkey below CFwd.
Exit
You must press Exit to exit a display feature and return to Normal (display) mode.
