Student Account Passwords
Your student account passwords can be managed from the following links.
TIP: If you prefer to use one password for each account choose a password with exactly 6 characters. This will satisfy the requirments for every system.
NOTE: No one at SOU will ever ask you for your password. You should ignore or report to the Student Help Desk any communication asking for your password, no matter how official looking or sounding it may be.

When choosing a secure, easy to remember password consider the following:
- Longer passwords are more secure
- Use mixed upper and lowercase letters, numbers and special characters (!@#$...)
- Avoid using your name, student ID, family member's, boy/girl friend's, or pet's name
- Avoid using repeating sequences ("123456" or "qwerty") making it harder for someone to see what you're typing
- Avoid using words that would be found in the dictionary ("apple" or "zebra")
Examples of secure, easy to remember passwords:
- Use the first letter of each word in a line from a song or poem ("Four Score and Seven Years Ago Today" = "4s&7YAT")
- Use two short words concatenated together with punctuation between them ("1American#Pie", "70s+songs", or "1cooL_caT"
