Computer Labs

There are over 40 student computer labs on campus, with approximately 800 computers. Some of these labs are general purpose facilities, open to all students, while others may be restricted to students enrolled in specific programs. Labs vary in size, services offered, as well as hours of operation. Some have scanners for capturing graphics or text. Some offer special hardware of software for instructional purposes or for persons with disabilities.

Services

From most labs on campus students may log in with their student network account. Once logged in, students have access to software, personal network file storage (the P: drive), email, networked printers and the Internet.

Computer Lab Rules

In addition to the Computing Resources Acceptable Use Policy, which governs the use of all computing resources on campus, the various computer labs on campus are bound by Computer Lab Rules.

Computer Lab Directory

The general purpose labs are intended to serve students from most areas of study. They offer a variety of hardware and software, extended hours, and a staff of helpful lab aides. The other labs may limit access to students enrolled in a particular program. They usually offer specific hardware or software but may have reduced hours and limited lab aide support. Remember you can always call the Student Help Desk for assistance with any SOU computer lab.
