Responsibilities
Manage the team of people (Bob Wright, Francisco Kuriyama, and Andrew Krug) that help us provide the following services:
- Network Accounts and Directory
- At the heart of the campus network are the file servers which maitain the directory of accounts and resources on our network. This allows people to login to the network and governs what services are available to them.
- Data Storage and Security
- We've been saving files on the campus file servers since 1993. It adds up. We've had to build a substantail infrastructure to securely store, backup and manage all of this data.
- E-Mail Services
- Every Student, Faculty, and Staff has an e-mail account on our systems. E-mail has grown tremendously from a fun novelty to a must have services that everyone relies on.
- Web Services
- Although my primary function has always been to maintain and configure the servers that provide our web sites, and to write programs that run on the web, I've also had a hand in the design of websites and have been functioning as the web coordinator for the past few years. In addition to the public website we now provide the MySOU portal and host websites for a number of other organizations on campus.
- E-Learning
- Although Blackboard has been our main e-learning tool for many years, we've spent quite a bit of time keeping up-to-date on other products and how e-learning is evolving and becoming more and more important to every class. The best part about this part of my job is getting to work with our faculty.
Eductaion
- Graduated High School, Long Beach NY, 1965

- Graduated SOSC Computer Science 1992
Professional Interests
Of all of the varied tasks involved in my job my favorite part is programming. I write programs for network management tasks as well as web applications. Its the later that I really enjoy. I stay current on programming langauages and techniques used for web programming even though I don't get to use these skills that often. I'm also a big fan of open source software although I have not had the time to contribute to any projects.
