October 08, 2009
In an effort to cope with budget reductions and to leverage SOU's investment in Microsoft solutions there are some changes coming in campus malware protection. We've selected Microsoft's Forefront product to provide the campus with superior protection against computer viruses and malware. Forefront is significantly less expensive than our current McAfee software and since it is a Microsoft product it integrates seamlessly with our new management systems resulting in even further long-term savings.

This will be a phased process, beginning now with lab and classroom computers and continuing throughout the year.
Blackboard Single Sign-On
September 09, 2009
Last Spring there were problems with students using Blackboard from MySOU. If they closed the Blackboard window they would have to logout of MySOU and log back in again before they could get back in to Blackboard. This has been fixed so you can close the Blackboard window and get back in as many times as you want.
Launch of IT News Bytes
September 09, 2009
In consideration of the University's strategic goals for sustainability and reduced carbon footprint the Information Technology department will no longer publish a printed newsletter. While we fully acknowledge the need to keep the campus informed of our activities, our summer workload has always made the newsletter production a challenge. We explored several alternatives and feel the new "IT News Bytes" web site, MySOU channel and RSS feed are a superior solution.
