Where to Go for Help

The HelpDesk is here to provide you with extensive computer support of all kinds. The staff is made up of extremely computer savvy employees that are at the phones from 7:30am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday providing you with answers to your computer problems. Here at the Help Desk we train our employees daily so that they are prepared to provide you with the best service possible. However, there are those times when a personal visit is required or the problem needs a little bit more work than we can provide over the phone. Still, the Help Desk is the place to call. They will urgently contact the correct person to assist you with your dilemma in order to get it taken care of as quickly as possible.

Most software and hardware on campus is supported fully at the Help Desk However, there are a few programs and hardware that require other assistance. An example of this is the FIS program. Still, you should not be discouraged from calling when you have a problem that you are not certain we support because if we can't help you, we will find someone personally, or refer you to someone who can.

To make sure that our Help Desk staff is qualified to help you with your problems, we give them a personal upgrade each week. Once a week we have a required meeting where we go over various topics. During an average meeting we would discuss current events for computing services and campus upgrades, talk about any problems that may have occurred, and always have a training section on currently used software here at SOU. Attending Banner classes is also required for all Help Desk employees.

So, when you have a problem, pick up the phone and call 2-6900 or e-mail helpdesk@sou.edu for assistance. The Help Desk is here to help you solve your computer problems promptly and sufficiently.
