NOTE: It is your responsibility to know and abide by the regulations that apply to you. Immigration Regulations often change. It is strongly recommended that you consult with the International Student Advisor for the most up-to-date information regarding your immigration questions. Please realize that while your immigration situation may appear to you as being the same as a friend's, it may not be.

These pages contain information in helping you maintain your status as a full time international student at SOU. Should you have any further questions, please consult with the International Student Advisor for clarification.

Checking in with the Office of International Programs

If you have not already met with someone in the Office of International Programs (OIP), you need to do so within the first 2 weeks of classes. It is important that you bring your immigration documentation so we can be sure it is on file. DHS requires this by law. You need bring the following to OIP, Stevenson Union 321:

  • your passport;
  • your I-94 card (the small white card in your passport or attached to your I-20);
  • your form I-20 (for F-1 students) or DS-2019 (for J-1 students).
