NOTE: It is your responsibility to know and abide by the regulations that apply to you. Immigration Regulations often change. It is strongly recommended that you consult with the International Student Advisor for the most up-to-date information regarding your immigration questions. Please realize that while your immigration situation may appear to you as being the same as a friend's, it may not be.

These pages contain information in helping you maintain your status as a full time international student at SOU. Should you have any further questions, please consult with the International Student Advisor for clarification.

Checking in with the Office of International Programs

All new international students must attend a mandatory orientation at the beginning of their first term at SOU (time and date to be announced each term).  This will serve as your official check-in and necessary to maintain your visa status.  You will need to bring your immigration documentation to the orientation:

  • your passport;
  • your I-94 card (the small white card in your passport or attached to your I-20);
  • your form I-20 (for F-1 students) or DS-2019 (for J-1 students).

If you arrive in Ashland early, you're welcome to come visit us any time!
