International Internships
A recent article in the Chronicle of Higher Education (2/24/2011) pointed out why international internships are increasingly important to university global engagement. In the essay, Cindy Chalou and Charles Gliozzo of Michigan State University wrote that, “College graduates need an international perspective to be competitive in today's job market. Many will have to negotiate foreign cultures whether they work in the United States or abroad. As part of this continuing change, international college internships should now be viewed as steppingstones to career success.”
SOU students are fortunate to have two excellent choices from which to select a meaningful international internship. Through careful planning and working with an SOU professor, students are able to earn credit abroad for their intern experience. It is essential that you begin planning several months in advance of when you intend to begin your internship!
