Getting Started
It's important to plan ahead as there are many steps in the process. For many students, it's difficult to figure out where to go, and we have tips to help you get started. To participate in an SOU study abroad program, a student must: meet eligibility requirements for their study abroad program; submit a complete application and supplemental materials; gain SOU approval through interview; attend mandatory orientation(s) and receive acceptance into the program from the host institution. Don't forget to apply for your passport well in advance. Many study abroad programs require a student visa, (and you'll need a valid passport to apply for your student visa). It's also a good idea to talk to your family about your plans and to think about finances. Start saving now!
