Starting in the Fall, 2008, Southern Oregon University established a residence hall for honors students and scholars in the Cascade Complex. Forest Hall is now a residence hall where honors students can truly experience both a living and learning opportunity...in pursuit of challenging classes and an academically stimulating and thought provoking social and living environment....with similarly motivated, high achievement peers. By living together, group study efforts can be facilitated, and the honors students can truly form their own sense of community.
Being a part of the Cascade Complex gives Forest residents access to a broad student population and yet, by being in the Forest Hall, the honors students and scholars can form their own unique living and study environment. The food court/dining area and mail room for all of the residence halls on campus are located in the Cascade complex. The kitchen/lounge, large meeting room, and main lounge of Forest with its fireplace provide accessible and appealing places to host Honors Club and Honors Program activities, such as movie night, debates, or a provocative idea series discussion. There is even an office available for Honors Club members' use.
Students can begin living in Forest based on space available. Application to live in the Forest Hall can be made prior to the start of any term. To apply, complete the residence hall application indicating your interest in living in Forest. If there are no vacancies in Forest, and you wish to get on a waiting list, please contact the Housing Office.
Consider making your next residence hall Forest! Contact the Honors Program Staff if you have further questions.
