Dr. Walcher came to Southern Oregon University in 2008. He specializes in the history of U.S. foreign relations and teaches courses on international history, modern U.S. history, and modern South American history. Dr. Walcher is currently revising a manuscript that explores questions of modernization, ideology, hegemony, transnational business, social revolution, and social justice through the lens of the U.S.-Argentine relationship during the late 1950s and 1960s. In addition to his teaching and writing, Dr. Walcher advises the University’s chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, an honor society whose mission is to promote the study of history through the encouragement of research, good teaching, publication, and the exchange of learning and ideas among historians.
