Enrollment Services

Summary of tuition and fee changes at SOU for the 2011-2012 academic year:

  1. Students taking 1-8 credit hours are now assessed tuition based on their residency (resident or non-resident) and student level (graduate or undergraduate). In years past, students taking 1-8 credit hours were assessed a standard rate that did not vary based on residency status.
  2. Students now pay tuition based on their student level, as opposed to the level of the coursework they take.
  3. The last remnants of the tuition plateau are now completely removed. Students pay a flat per-credit-hour rate.
  4. Commensurate with Student Fee Committee recommendations, Incidental Fees have increased $7 per term. This increase is to support student initiatives and the addition of mental health and drug and alcohol counseling services.
  5. Health Service Fees have increased $13 per term to account for increases in insurance premiums.
  6. The differential rate for the Masters Mental Health Counseling program has been eliminated. Students in this program will pay standard tuition and fee rates.
  7. There is a new differential tuition rate for the Masters in Education program.
  8. The above "rules" may not apply to students taking self-support and contract courses (online courses, high school courses, etc.). These are identified using the session code in Student SISWeb or the online class schedule (advanced feature option). These courses are typically charged a flat rate for the course and are not assessed fees. Students taking a combination of these courses and regular coursework will be assessed fees based on the number of regular coursework credit hours they take.
  9. Self-support and contract courses do not count towards the minimum credit hours needed for student health insurance eligibility.
