Special Education Program
ASD SPECIALIST PROGRAM
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Specialist Program is designed for special educators and speech language pathologists holding a communication disorders endorsement to add the ASD Specialist designation to their Oregon teaching license. The complete program of study is 18 credits, plus a professional portfolio.
Courses in the ASD Program are also available to other educators wishing to gain knowledge and skills about ASD. Individual courses may be taken to upgrade skills and knowledge.
Courses are delivered in hybrid format: Courses meet four times during the term on Saturdays. Contact the Program Coordinator for specific meeting dates.
- Candidates can complete the program in one or two years.

- ASD Specialist Program of Study
- Capstone activity for the ASD Specialist Program is a professional portfolio.
- The ASD Specialist can be incorporated into the Masters of Education program by completing additional courses.
- Candidates who have graduated from SOU's Masters of Arts in Teaching, Special Education or are currently registered in a SOU graduate program will not need to reapply to the Graduate School.

- Admission process includes application to both the School of Education Masters of Education Program and Southern Oregon University Graduate School.
