Ken is Professor of Education and also serves as program director for the Initial Administrator Licence Program. He came to SOU as Dean of Social Sciences, Education, and Health and PE in 2001. Previously, he was at the University of Oregon as a faculty member in Educational Policy and Management and at Portland State University in Educational Leadership and Higher Education.
He is an active scholar in the field of international development where his work is focused on the role higher education plays in cultural, social, and economic development. His research also addresses organizational culture and leadership and evaluation of social and educational programs. His recent publications include research on Brazil, Malaysia, Japan and Mexico and he is the senior editor of the Association for the Study of Higher Education "Reader on Comparative Education," co-author of "The Social Role of Higher Education," and co-author of "Sex Equity in Education." He has been invited to lecture in numerous countries on international development issues in education and social services, most recently in Thailand, Japan, Mexico, and the Peoples Republic of China.
