Roni Adams received her B.A. in English in 1969 and teaching credential in 1970 from Cal Poly University, San Luis Obispo. She has a Master's degree in English and Psychology from Southern Oregon University and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology, specializing in Teaching and Learning, from University of California, Santa Barbara.
Roni has been an educator since 1970, first as a teacher of high school English, then as an elementary teacher in grades K-5. She acted as head teacher/administrator of the Open Classroom Alternative Program in Ventura, California, for over a decade. She also worked as adjunct faculty for Antioch University in Santa Barbara, and SOU, for a total of ten years before becoming a full-time professor of Teacher Education.
She is a founder of Ventura Charter School of Arts and Global Education, a progressive public K-8 charter school, and the chair of its Board of Directors. Her 35 years of experience in educational research and practice help inform and guide the school?s philosophy, program and policies. She travels to Southern California for several days each month to oversee the operation of the school.
