Southern Oregon University

Educational Leadership Doctoral Program

Southern Oregon University is collaborating with University of Oregon’s Department of Educational Methodology, Policy, and Leadership in the College of Education to offer the U of O doctoral degree in Educational Leadership (D.Ed.) in southern Oregon.  This program provides practicing educational professionals with an advanced graduate degree emphasizing leadership development, oral and written communication, and understanding of educational assessment and research. Faculty in the School of Education at SOU will teach some classes in the program and serve as members of students' doctoral committees. All courses will be delivered to southern Oregon through online and distance learning.

For the 2012 program, possible dissertation data sets will come from:

  • ECLS (early childhood longitudinal study)
  • High School and Beyond
  • easyCBM
  • EPIC data / Reaching the Goal (Common Core)

The application deadline for fall 2012 admission is March 1.  PLEASE NOTE:  Meeting the March 1 deadline is critical. 

Application materials.
Application includes copies of official transcripts, letters of recommendation, evidence of scholarly writing, and an entrance examination.  Admission to the U of O program requires either the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or the Miller’s Analogy Test (MAT).  The MAT is recommended for candidates applying to the program.   The MAT is offered at the Higher Education Center in Medford.  Contact Southern Oregon University (541-552-8150 or testing@sou.edu) to determine when the exam will be offered. 

The official application to the program is sent to U of O.  Send a complete copy of the application to SOU.  The SOU packet can include copies of transcripts; the U of O packet must contain official copies of transcripts.
