Distance Education
Prospective Students
Thank you for your interest in Southern Oregon University's Distance Learning Program. Deciding to return to college and complete your degree can be a life changing and career enhancing experience. (Reason's to Complete your Degree .pdf) You will be pleased to learn that our courses are created by on campus faculty, so you can be assured of the same high quality instruction that on campus students receive. The requirements for your degree are the same requirements for on campus student - meeting the same general education, prerequisite, and major requirements.
Degree completion programs are designed for the working adult who has about two years of college coursework completed. Many students in the program explain how they went to college years ago after they graduated from high school, and for whatever reason, never finished. That uncompleted goal has been with them for years until some life change prompted them to come back and finish the degree they had once started.
It doesn't matter how long ago you may have taken college courses, your work is still good and will count toward your degree. The only way to really know how long it will take for you to complete your degree is for you to contact the program coordinator and have your transcripts evaluated. Once transcripts are looked at, an educational plan can be developed for you with your needs in mind.
SOU strives to meet the needs of working people by offering coursework and advising to fit a professional's busy and varied schedule. Faculty and coordinators are just a phone call or email away.
