Disability Services for Students
Disability Services ensures equal access to all students with qualifying, documented disabilities.
Getting Started
- New Students: Upon admission to SOU, call the ACCESS Center (541-552-6213) and identify yourself as a new online student and ask to make an appointment for a phone conference with Disability Services. Ideally, this should take place well before the beginning of your first term at SOU.
- Current Students: If you have a disability and would like to begin receiving services through DSS, even if you have not used DSS services in the past, please call the ACCESS Center (541-552-6213) to make an appointment with Disability Services. Be sure to identify yourself as an online student and ask for a phone appointment.
- Keep your intake phone appointment with Disability Services. If possible, during your appointment, let them know what documentation of your disability you have. If you do not yet have documentation, expect to receive referral information for testing or other clinician resources. Plan to discuss your eligibility for services, and learn how to request services each term.
- It is the student's responsibility to notify your instructors of the accommodations necessary for your disability. You should email your accommodation letter to your instructor.
