Digital Media Center @ SOU

Southern Oregon Digital Media Center
Renewed. Revamped. Recharged.
The Digital Media Center at Southern Oregon University provides a space where people, tools and technology blend together to inspire relevant and compelling media for the 21st century. The center serves both the university and the larger community in Southern Oregon and the Rogue River Valley. The DMC builds on and expands the mission of SOU’s Rogue Valley Community Television organization (RVTV), and also works closely with the university’s Center for Emerging Media & Digital Arts (EMDA) and other academic departments. These include Communication, Art, Computer Science and more.
The DMC's 8500-square-foot facility includes a digital media teaching classroom and lab with 20 multimedia workstations, a state-of-the-art television production studio with a permanent lighting grid, a digital master control center for playback and archiving of programming, and an equipment room with cameras, lighting and sound equipment available for student check-out.
The DMC empowers our students, our governmental partners and regional enterprises in our community by building and operating a state-of-the-art center for convergent media, cinema studies, scholarly research, interdisciplinary teaching and public outreach.
Equipment Check-Out Hours
Members of the university community may check-out photo, video, sound and lighting equipment at the DMC when school is in-session and during the hours specified on this Google calendar:

Policies & Resources
The DMC takes a leadership role in assessing and proposing best practices for students and teachers to participate in and learn about media authorship. For guidance on complex media issues such as copyright, fair use and ethics, please explore the online resources we have gathered here:
- Students who wish to produce content with simulated scenes of violence on campus should review SOU's official Simulated Violence policy and submit the Simulated Violence Application Form.
- Fair-Use Resources via the Center for Social Media at American University
- Fair-Use Policies via the Society for Cinema & Media Studies
We welcome submission of additional resources that might be helpful for students and faculty at SOU via email.
