Business Degree Completion

Program Requirements
Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration

Your degree program has five parts:

1.  Universty Studies Requirements (60-64 quarter credits)

2.  Prerequistes to be admitted to the Major (25 credits)

3.  Major Requirements (52-60 credits) - see below

4.  Minor or Certificate Requirements (24-26 credits)

5.  Electives (anything else needed to bring you up to 180 total credits)

 

Note:  If you transfer from a semester school, one semester credit equals 1.5 quarter credits.

 

Once you are admitted to the School of Business, you can enroll in your core business and/or major requirements.  The following courses are required for any Business major:

 

1.  UPPER DIVISION CORE BUSINESS courses (28 credits): 

  • BA330 Marketing
  • BA374 Organizational Behavior and Management
  • BA380 Operations Management
  • BA382 Management Information Systems
  • BA385 Principles of Finance
  • BA428 Applied Business Research or BA409 Practicum
  • BA499 Business Planning

Through the degree completion program, you have three options available to you.  Following is a list of the options and the courses required for each option:

 

A.  Management

You must complete SIX of the following Management courses (24 credits):

  • BA427 Business Policy and Strategy
  • BA476 Business Ethics
  • Four Upper Division Business Electives (300 or 400 level), as approved

B.  Management Accounting

Required Courses (16 hours required):

  • Intermediate Accounting I, II (BA 351, 352, 4 credits each)
  • Cost and Management Accounting (BA 451, 4 credits)
  • Accounting Information Systems (BA 454, 4 credits)

Elective Courses (8 hours required):

  • Financial Reporting and Analysis III (BA 353, 4 credits)
  • Introduction to Taxation (BA 453, 4 credits)
  • Advanced Business Application of Databases (BA 384, 4 credits)
  • Business Information Systems Design (BA 484, 4 credits)
  • Nonprofit Accounting and Financial Management (BA 460, 4 credits)
  • Advanced Management Information Systems (BA 497, 4 credits)

C.  Public Accounting

 Required Courses: (24 hours required)

  • Intermediate Accounting I, II (BA 351, 352, 4 credits each)
  • Introduction to Taxation (BA 453, 4 credits)
  • Cost and Management Accounting (BA 451, 4 credits)
  • Accounting Information Systems (BA 454, 4 credits)
  • Auditing I (BA 455, 4 credits)

Elective Courses: (12 hours required)

  • Intermediate Accounting III (BA 353, 4 credits)
  • Auditing II (BA 456, 4 credits)
  • Advanced Taxation (BA 457, 4 credits)
  • CPA Review (BA 465A & B, 4 credits)
  • Advanced Accounting Topics I (BA 458, 4 credits)
  • Advanced Accounting Topics II (BA 459, 4 credits)
  • Nonprofit Accounting and Financial Management (BA 460, 4 credits)
  • Corporate Law (BA 478, 4 credits)

D.  Management of Aging Services

  • BA200 Management of Aging Services (4 credits)
  • BA306 Special Topics in Management of Aging Services (2)
  • BA400 Organizational Management of Aging Services (2 credits)
  • BA406 Senior Housing Operations Management (2 credits)
  • BA416 Healthcare Delivery for Aging Services (4 credits)
  • BA422 Financial Management of Aging Services (2 credits)
  • BA424 Marketing of Aging Services (4 credits)
  • Psy466 Psychology of Aging (4 credits)
  • Psy467 Death and Dying (4 credits)

Required Electives (select 4 credits):

Minor and Elective coursework required:

  1. Complete courses in a minor (24-28 credits).  See minor options available to degree completion students.
  2. Completion of ELECTIVES: upper or lower division courses in any area. The number of electives needed depends on the number of credits already completed to satisfy the degree requirements. A total of 180 credits is needed to receive a bachelor's degree in business. This includes a minimum of 52 and a maximum of 76 credits in upper division business administration.
